FIRNE (2023)

FIRNE emerges at various places in the Goethe-Institut Paris between already existing visual worlds. These constitute a picture of Germany, which is also reflected in the photographs taken by Mara Pollak and Martin Fengel. These pieces not only mirror their connection with established notions but also contemplate the potential for questioning them. Can clichés or their negation be utilized as a canvas for interpretations? How does the interplay of abstraction and actual position factor into our contemplation of a homeland? These inquiries are deliberated within the multi-part image cycle, which will stand as a permanent installation at the Goethe-Institut Paris.
